Guideline for Applications

1.      Applications can be typed on line and then printed. Applications cannot be submitted online. Application must be printed on 8-1/2” x 11”, acid-free/archival paper (available in many stationary stores). Since approved applications are retained indefinitely in the Society Archives, acid-free paper helps avoid degradation. (It is recommended that you send a draft copy to the Indiana State Society Registrar for initial approval before printing on the acid-free paper.)

2.      Applications to The Indiana State Society should be submitted in duplicate, unfolded along with one copy of all genealogical proofs, to the Indiana Society Registrar: Indiana 1812 Officers

3.       The information on the soldier’s service must include dates of service, regiment, state of service, etc. Without the dates of service (even approximate), we cannot confirm they qualify during the period that is approved.

4.      A check for $60.00 made out to the Indiana Society of the War of 1812 needs to be sent in with the application. There is a $30.00 Indiana processing filing fee and $30.00 first years membership fee. The $30 for the application is non-refundable. Whereas if the application is in some way rejected then the $30.00 for the first years membership is refunded to the applicant.

When the application is deemed ready and acceptable by the Indiana Registrar, then the Society will include a $12.00 check with the application that is sent to the National office for registration there. The new member will then be notified on of the acceptance into the society which will include the new member’s national number.
